Follow the Herd…

Use the map below to trace the sheep along their route from Mantua to Bear River City.

Beginning at 8:00 a.m., the sheep will trail from the intersection of Fish Hatchery Road/Rocky Dugway Road in Mantua (A) and make their way down Highway 89 through Box Elder Canyon. They’ll arrive in Brigham City at around 9:00 a.m., where they’ll follow 600 East (B) to 600 North, then turn left on 600 North (C), crossing Main Street and continuing until they reach Watery Lane west of town (D). The sheep will then head north on Watery Lane, then turn west on S.R. 13 (E) toward Corinne/Bear River City.

A Running Legacy

Every autumn since the 1930s, the Jensen family has run sheep through Mantua, Box Elder Canyon, and Brigham City to their winter pasture in Bear River City. This segment follows the yearly sheep drive and shows why it’s so important for the Jensens to keep the family traditions alive.

Produced by PBS Utah in 2019 as part of their This Is Utah series.
